The Rohner special substrate – more than just soil: the habitat within the Rohner planter system

Our in-house special substrate was developed precisely for the Rohner planter system and forms the basis for a natural habitat for the plants in the Rohner planter. It creates optimal conditions that are specifically tailored to the high and complex requirements within the planter and that endure permanently even under demanding weather influences such as heat, cold and changing moisture conditions.

Thanks to the specially developed mixing ratio and the balanced combination of organic and mineral components, a permanently stable air and water balance is created. The substrate stores moisture and distributes it evenly throughout the entire planter, so that all roots are optimally supplied and water is available as needed. At the same time, the high-quality, structurally stable composition reliably prevents waterlogging, compaction and drying out, and sustainably protects the plants from damage and dying off.

In perfect coordination with the integrated water reservoir, the drainage, the insulation and the sensor technology, a well-conceived complete system is created that ensures a balanced climate in the root zone all year round. Even during transitional seasons and in the winter months, evergreen plants are reliably supplied with moisture and effectively protected from drying out.

The neutral pH value promotes optimal nutrient absorption and forms the ideal basis for our coordinated fertiliser concept. At the same time, the high structural stability ensures that the substrate remains functional for many years and, unlike conventional substrates, does not need to be replaced regularly.
